I'm contemplating how I can use these dried foods for gifts for Christmas. Any ideas?
Here's where I'm coming from. I'm in my 50's, Female, single. I only have a few friends, and family. I'm broke most of the time, as I overspend my income--not on frivolous things, but on just living. I have 7 animals to support, no kids. I've never been much for gift giving, if at all. Usually not at all. Maybe a card here or there, but that's about it. I'm not close to anyone enough for gift giving. Plus, I think it's a waste of money to buy someone something they don't want, just because a gift is socially expected. On the other hand, I do like to give things to people who appreciate what I have to give, and that means something home-made given to specific individuals. I have dried foods now, and I can use them for Christmas gifts, but I'm just not sure how to put it all together. I don't want to make some sugar-laden fruitcake or anything (see my post on "Sugar Free Eating"). I need ideas. Low cost ideas.
I'm going to experiment with freezing or drying food combinations soon. Like, I mashed some potatoes up with yogurt (only the greek yogurt is sugar free) and froze it. Need more of those combinations for things I can take to work for lunches. Yes, I eat and love meat.
